I agree with De Coster’s and Edmonds statement, “If the truth be told, Wal-Mart improves the lives of people in rural areas because it gives them access to a lifestyle they otherwise would not have.” From first hand experience, Wal-Mart has always been convenient to go to. They offer everything from groceries, clothing, electronics, to car help. It improves the lifestyle of many because the customer is able to get all their needs for there family in the one store. It saves people the trouble and time of going to different stores and wasting gas. Also, how can people complain about the low prices that they offer trademark items that match the prices of off-brand items?
I say that even though Wal-Mart is a big company that forces small stores to close, it is understandable that it is a business. Being in a small area, businesses do have problems against Wal-Mart because the needs of just little novelty stores are not the same as if it was the past. Sooner or later the thought or idea small business will die I say.
As a college student; especially being a architect, I can say that Wal-Mart is always there anytime I need it. It being open 24/7 store set is apart from any other store. At anytime I need anything I know that I can rely on Wal-Mart being open to satisfy my need at that time. Just a few minutes ago I came from Wal-Mart as I got something to eat 5:00 in the morning. Wal-Mart is major part of people lifestyle because on the new I have that malls have been closing and most people are going toward shopping other places especially Wal-Mart. So in the end when it comes to the economy going for the worst Wal-Mart will be our savior.

MARVEL VS. DC

The superhero world has existed for the past 70 years, and every since then they have been run by two trademark labels of DC Comics and Marvel Comics. As time goes by each trademark has grown to the point were famous fictional character like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man and etc. have become household name. Yet still through which trademark is the popular out of the two. My opinion I would say would be Marvel Comics but for you to understand my reasons you would have to know what is the difference between each trademark.
Now, DC Comics for are one of the largest and most popular American comic books. From a fan of superheroes, the style of DC comics are that each hero goes through some type of pain that cause the alias to become the hero they are destined to become. They have well-known character, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash and the superhero group the Justice League. Now in the media the major popularity for DC Comics come from only Superman and Batman. The reason they are so popular because Superman is can nearly do everything but it is quite ironic that such a powerful person lives on Earth but his own weakness, Kryptonite, seems to follow him from an explosion of his home planet Krypton. That is unlucky. For Batman, it’s the fact he is a superhero that has no power but uses his physical ability and mind to bring down the villain. I think Batman has a lot of popularity for only his villains especially the Joker. As we know from the Dark Knight movie, Joker was the psychotic villain that lived by no rule and a way of life that destruction was beauty. You can say that without the Joker, Batman doesn’t truly exist in the world. Yet, also he has a lineup of household villains such as Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Bane, Scarecrow, Two Face, and many others that cause to add to the popularity. Lately DC Movies have only been based on Superman and Batman remakes from the past, but they are moving toward other heroes such as the Watchmen that came out this past year. Even though DC Comics are the first I think there popularity is decreasing since Marvel the past years have taken the movie list with being number one in the movie box office. Yet dealing with comic DC has fallen of the chart. With USA today article, DC only took one spot on the list of top comic books of 2008. The other spot were taken by Marvel, yet DC has taken the top with literature of graphic novel.
Even though DC Comics was the first, Marvel has become the largest comic book publisher over a period of time. Now Marvel styles of character are that each character goes through being a part of experiment or the unluckiness of being placed in experimental accidents. Becoming the top of the list when coming to superheroes, the reason is said because an article form New York University stated that DC A-list character you can count with your fingers compared to the several hundred Marvel bring to the table. Such names that are on the list are Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Spiderman, and groups like the Avengers or X-Men. Marvel itself doesn’t really have a true face for its major hero but if I had to say I would say Spiderman and the X-Men are the mascot. The reason I picked Spiderman is because for Marvel, he is the DC version of Batman. He has power with that that coexists with his name but with villains he coexists with the villains of the Green Goblin and Venom. With a lineup of villains like the Rhino, Carnage, Vulture, Shocker, Sandman, Reptile, much similarity is to be notice. For the X-Men, they are the outcast of the world the are usual with different power amongst each other, but come together to save a world that don’t except them. It is kind of like how the world is now with people in general. The popularity in the media for Marvel is spread evenly between each hero, but one makes up for the other. Looking at box office revenues for Marvel, the major reason for much of the popularity of Marvel success comes from just more than the A-list heroes but from minor character such as Men In Black, Blade, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Daredevil; that have made it on the top of the box office.
Also the popularity of Marvel and DC has grown toward theme parks. In Florida, Island of Adventure offers the Marvel Superhero Island that consists of an areas dealing with rides, and attractions. Rumors are that Marvel has an agreement with some developer to create a Marvel based theme park in 2011. The said has proved that Marvel popularity has grown far above the competition. For DC comics I know that Six Flags are a big part of having rides based on Superman and Batman.
Marvel and DC will always be on the top when it comes to comics but Marvel will always be number one, because they offer better heroes and a better business of making revenue. DC will always have Superman and Batman to rely on to but for how long can two man keep up an era compared to Marvel endless opportunities for success with any character at hand.
